Method
- Make a paste of dry roasted coconut, ginger, garlic and green chili using a blender.
- Take 2 tsp of cold pressed coconut oil in a pan, add bay leaves, a cinnamon stick and cloves.
- Add finely chopped onion and let it fry for some time.
- Add the paste and let it cook well..
- Add red kashmiri chilli powder and fry for 10 seconds.
- Now add the remaining masala and cooked masoor dal.
- Fry for 1 minute, add salt and water. You can adjust the consistency as per your preference.
- Add jaggery and tamarind paste and let it simmer in a slow flame for 4 to 5 minutes.
- Turn off the gas
- Add fresh coriander as a garnish before serving.
- Serve hot with rice, chapati or with jowar bhakri.

It is rich in protein and vitamin A, C and E.
